Whale watching is a great way to get out and explore natures and see some amazing creatures up close. While you are not guaranteed to see whales on a whale watching trip, most are experienced enough to make sure you get some sightings in. If you are lucky you’ll get an up close view to this magnificent creatures of the sea.
For a good experience make sure you choose a tour company that is reputable and has good reviews. Most offer indoor/outdoor seating as well as a snack bar on board. You can often bring your own snacks as well. Make sure to bring layers as it can be windy and chilly if you sit outside. If you get seasick you should probably bring some Dramamine, its best to have it on hand just in case as the boat trip is a 3 hour experience. There are several restrooms located on the boat as well.
Bring a camera or phone to make sure you can capture some great photos and videos during your experience. Many of the whales are tagged and named by local biologists so the crew will be able to give you more details about each one. They often recognize them by the marking or pattens on their body.
And you may also get to see some great scenery as well light lighthouses or old scenic buildings. Things that are not easily accessible unless on a boat, so that adds to the experience.
Parking is located next to the marina and is free for those who are taking a whale watching tour. Make sure to arrive at least an hour before you tour!
This is an experience that I’d highly recommend trying at least once! This is something that can be enjoyed by all ages an all activity levels! It’s great for the whole family!
